Your carbon footprint will reduce by fitting a water softener.

Research commissioned by the UK Water Treatment Association concluded that in a typical hard water area a brand new Condensing boiler (efficiency rated SUBUK A) would be reduced to a lower operating efficiency (SEBUK C) after the first few heating cycles.

Installing a water softener is the only 100% solution that eliminates lime scale, therefore, assisting in keeping the Condensing boiler working at its optimum efficiency.

A more recent study press release by the Water Quality Association indicates that the effect of hard water on most hot water heaters shows that inefficiencies can be as high as 48%. As a consequence the study indicates that Softeners are among the VERY BEST household energy savers.

Current UK legislation (Building Regulations) require that water with a hardness over 200 milligram per litre must be treated for all new installations. This will ensure that lime scale formation in the boiler heat exchanger will be kept to a minimum, hence, reducing energy cost and keeping carbon emissions low.

The elimination of lime scale build up in washing machines and dishwashers also decrease energy consumption, further reducing your carbon footprint.
