The recent upgrades to the Compton Durville Water Treatment Centre in Somerset have now been completed, and homes and businesses in the affected areas have begun receiving water from the improved supply. This is excellent news for long-term water quality, sustainability, and reliability. However, as a result of these changes, water hardness levels are expected to increase.

Existing Water Softener Customers

If you already have a water softener installed, the new supply may mean your system’s hardness settings need adjusting. Please contact our office to discuss this. If necessary, we can arrange a visit to retest your incoming mains water and adjust your system accordingly.
If your routine service is due soon, hardness levels will be checked and corrected as part of that visit.

Homes Without Water Treatment

If you do not currently have any water treatment in place, you may start to notice increased limescale around your home. This can appear as white deposits on taps and basins, stubborn residue that is difficult to clean, or scum and flakes of scale in kettles and hot drinks.

Over time, limescale can build up inside pipework, reducing water flow, blocking taps, and restricting shower heads. It can also reduce appliance efficiency and increase maintenance costs.
